Albuquerque, NM – Tree New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque are partnering to offer the public 5,000 seedlings
for planting at residences. The City of Albuquerque is working hard to bring the tree canopy up to 68% in public
parks and streets. “We would like to see the entire city reach a greater canopy level”, said Suzanne Probart,
executive director, Tree New Mexico, “and with the give-away, this is one way we can educate and encourage people
to help with the overall effort of energy conservation.
Trees can save 10 – 30% of total summer air conditioning costs when placed on the west and south side of your home.”
What: The First Annual Martin J. Chavez Tree Give-away - 5,000 trees will be given away!
Tree species: Austrian and Afghan pines, NM Olive, Desert Willow, and Lacebark Elm. The trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
